I'm looking for any information from users of military ranges around the country. Our club needs to help our older and infirm shooters with shooting benches and ladders to get in and out of shooting trenches. We don't seem to get much support from Landmarc in our area.
Any information on what is permitted on ranges around the country will be gratefully received.

On Sennybridge F-range I have seen a couple of people who bring their own shooting benches and stools to shoot from as per the below picture. There are also some others who bring a small ladder to help get in and out of the pits.

Would landmarc not have some duty in this respect to ensure that access is available...not sure but is landmarc not a private company?

There is a member of one of my clubs that uses a similar shooting bench at a Landmarc controlled MOD range. It is perfectly acceptable.
As regards older members, then yes their needs should be accommodated. This should include being excused Butt duty because they have often been club shooters for many years and have "done their bit".

Our club is quite good, allowing shooting postures other than the typical prone stance to be used. I shoot my .308 bolt action and 9mm lever release prone, (and although I'm far from old), I prefer to sit sideways with my 45-70 Marlin lever-action as it suits that style of rifle better. One old member shoots a muzzle loader standing with shooting sticks to save him getting up and down all the time.

I had problems getting out of foxholes solved by using an ammo box with a strap attached, step on the ammo box to get out and pull it up with strap.

We have two benches in our club, had to get them approved by the Range Warden at Altcar for use.

I used one a couple of weeks ago when I wasn't able to get prone. Mainly aimed at the older members of the club though!

I've never had any problems with using a bench, albeit not on a military range.

Owing to a chronic pain condition I am unable to shoot prone and thus use a folding bench built for me by my son. We obtained the legs (actually sold as "Shooting bench legs") from a well known auction site, and then fitted our own MDF top covered with self-adhesive neoprene. This set-up easily fits behond the front seats in my car and allows me to shoot almost anywhere within reason.

We suspect its purpose is to fling lead downrange quite accurately. Possibly an MDTS chassis ?

A nice range too by the looks of it.
