Building the new range for FDPC

#1 Post by Brookers »

So on Saturday the 9th of April Frome and District Pistol club started work on our new range. It's in the basement of an old brewery in Shepton Mallet Somerset. The history of the building can be found here for those who are interested https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Bavarian_Brewery In short it's a grade two star listed building and thought to be the first place in the UK to brew Larger, filthy stuff IMO and they should of stuck to cider cheers

Anyway we have a long space split in to two areas for a 6 lane 50m full bore rifle range and a 9 lane 25m pistol calibre range. between them there is space for gun room and training room and off to one side is the club room. I will try and get a copy of the floor plan if anyone is interested.

As they say ttiuwp so here is the link https://flic.kr/s/aHsky6kmhZ

We are aiming to be open by the end of June, I will update as the build goes on.

If you are interested we will be updating build on the club website as well http://fdpc-admin.wix.com/fdpc-website

Any questions ask away, I have been living this project a while now, it's almost two years to the day that I found the building wtf

Each pillar will be wrapped in rubber matting then faced with steel plate and then boxed in with thick wood cladding. All 52 of them :o

Some take it easier than other as they paint

Gun room now has racking for firearms,

Over a mile of wiring has now gone in to the range wtf

Lighting is now done in the 25m and 50m ranges, just the flood lights to fit at the backstop once the backstop is in place,

Next steps are to fit the armour plate and install the ballistic blocks for the backstop, deep clean the building and paint the floor.
Lots of little jobs still to do to finish it off but we are on course for an opening ceremony on the 30th of July.
