Hello All :)

Just a quick question, are Sierra's range of Matchking HPBT classed as hunting / expanding ammo?

I ask as they have a hollow point yet after an Internet trawl I couldn't find anything other than "not recommended for hunting" but that to me does not mean that they can't be used for hunting.

I ask as will get into reloading sometime soon after I purchase a K31 and the Matchking is supposed to be a great bullet choice for reloading and being that my FAC will be target ammo only the last thing I want to do is break the law.

Thanks in advance :)

R

Thet are target use only, and very good in a K31... enjoy your shooting

You will need the hunting condition on your FAC to go hunting with the appropriate expanding ammo allowance
You can't go hunting with a target only condition rifle

You should not be able to buy expanding ammunition unless it is indicated on your certificate so in theory you can only ever buy bullets suitable for paper. Yes some are 'hollow pointed' however that is because of how they are formed as opposed to designed expansion properties. If you ever pick up a modern bullet and is has a closed jacketed tip (Meplat) without a hole or plastic cap it is almost certainly designed for military use.
