"Do you suffer from any medical conditions? Yes/No"

Like many people of my age, if I were to list all my medical conditions they would take up half a page.

None of them has any bearing on my suitability to possess a firearm, or my ability to operate it safely.

Am I justified in answering "No" to this vague question?

Best not to say no as are giving the certification issuers a non disclosure stick to beat/refuse you with. Just as you have to declare convictions even if they are spent traffic ones not declaring them can be held against you.

Living is a medical condition.

The Instructions on mine spcifically stated conditions which may affect you ability to own firearms.

So I listed none.

Don't think dodgy knee, neck and blood thinners class as that.

If it is specific to owning firearms then only those pertaining to the question should be given.

The OPs question is not specific to firearms in the quote given.

My FEO asked this question when he called last about a variation, I replied nothing sinister or untoward and he asked me to be more specific - basically they want to know about every last thing.

As long as they do not affect you holding a firearm then put NO. The fact that you might have a funny back, frozen shoulder, stiff neck, on medication for a boil on your ass has no relevance. However, if you on medication for schizophrenia or any other mental illness then you need to tell them in my view.

I declared my Asthma. The Met requested a letter from my GP. Both the GP and the FEO asked me I'd declared it as it wasn't relevant!
The Met approach seems to be if you declare it, then they require a medic to sign off that it doesn't interfere with your ability to have a firearm.

That's how mine was. The form was not clear.

There was a separate list of instructions called guidance notes you could down load to help fill it in. I was going to oust a few things as I'm on lifetime medication but definitely not relevant.

If there is not these guidance notes then yes, probably safer to list them all.

I believe if it asks a straight forward question "Do you suffer from any medical conditions? Yes/No" you should answer it.
I heard, third hand, last year of someone having their FAC revoked after applying for a variation.
They had answered no. They were actually taking some form of ibuprofen or painkiller for a migraine on the advice of the doctor.
It wasn't so much what they were taking more the fact that they hadn't disclosed it when asked.
Seems sensible to me to declare that you are undergoing some form of treatment -however trivial.

If the medication isn't prescribed, why declare it? sometimes in the early part of summer, I take antihistamines for hayfever. but I wouldn't list that as a medical condition.

but if I was on some prescription painkillers or some sort of prescribed medication, I would declare that.

I wouldn't declare i had been on a week long course of antibiotics because I had tonsilitus 3 months ago
