Ballard rifling 850, micro groove 700.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Marlin used to offer the 1894 and others with micro groove barrels which had lots of grooves or the ballard which is conventionally rifled barrel with I think 6 grooves. Some people dont like the micro groove barrels if you're shooting cast bullets.

Just because you are a fellow of fullbore uk, I am prepared to offer you 150 quid , no questions asked cash. I think that is fair, after all it is an older model and no one wants them any more. The 2 I have are micro bore but people do like the Ballard barrels as well . either way a ton and a half sounds reasonable...dibs

If it's not the Microgroove barrel ( which will be stamped Microgroove ) then I suspect about £850. There have been lots advertised at about £1000.

If it's Microgroove a lot less. Doubt less than £600 though.

Good luck. Hope my wife doesn't sell my guns for what she thinks they are worth.

If it's new and a JM marlin you ought to get £1000....have a look at the second hand marlins on rimfire magics website..

What is wrong with you people ???????? I could have had that for 150 quid, gods teeth where are the GOM when you need them.
In all earnest though, there have been some ridiculous prices recently, I really like JM marlins and bought a used one for 550 a few months ago and it is like new except for the trigger job which is lush. Look at the realistic prices, I know this is new in box and unfired but that is not a big draw for me as it would lose it's virginity the first time I caressed it. New, in box and unplayed with is only good for toy collectors and brides. Guns need to be dirtied.
