Long barreled pistols query

For some time now I've been considering winding down my full bore rifle collection. Mainly because I live in Oxfordshire and trudging all the way to Bisley, dealing with the traffic jams, the expense ratio to availability (free time) and so on has become a bit of a chore.

I've been thinking along the lines of switching slots for more under levers in pistol calibres, and more .22 rifles so that I can shoot at my local indoor clubs.

I am particularly interested in buying long-barreled pistols in .357 and .44
I was wondering what to put on my variation application. Due to the permanent pistol grip extensions and long barrels are these simply classed as rifles? Or do I need to specifically state that I want long-barreled pistols? Is there a lot of wheedling involved in getting slots or is it as straight forward as buying a pistol round under lever rifle?

My certificate says "long barreled revolver" along with the relevant calibre. If in doubt give your local FEO a quick call to see if they are in agreement.

it depends, my mateba was classed as a revolver actioned rifle, so it was a 44 rifle. others are usually classed as long barreled revolvers. so if you are buying 2nd hand, it depends what it is on that persons ticket as, If its a new taurus say, it will most likely be an LBR slot you will need

It's usually Long Barreled Revolver on your FAC. It would be much handier if they were just classed as rifles as that would get around all that nonsense of not being able to lend them to others on the range/the club being able to have their own etc

There is also the option of having Long Barrelled Pistols as .22 semi-auto. I have a nice Browning Buckmark LBP.

Thanks everyone. I'll be most likely buying new so I'll put in for some slots in:
.22 / .38 / .357 / .44 /.45 long barreled revolvers and .22 long barreled semi-auto pistol
I'll also stick in 9mm for a SGC rifle.

That lot ought to cover most of my needs for the foreseeable future.

I second the Browning Buckmark LBP. I have the fluted barrel version from Stockade products and it is extremely reliable.
