I've recently started reloading for my T3 .222rem and have worked up a load for Reloder 7 and 40gr Nosler Varmageddon. I've seated the bullet at 1.8" to the ogive and I'm getting just under .5" @ 100 yards. At 1.8" I'm still 64 thou off the lands, but seating the 40gr at lands means that there's just 75 thou (if my sums are right) I'm just wondering what the minimum seating depth you'd recommend?

The 'rule of thumb' for seating depth is 'one calibre' - in your case 0.2 inches.

Of course, you could easily reduce this figure to get a bit closer to the lands but honestly, if your getting under half MOA at 100yds where's the problem?

Yea, I'll probably stick with what I've worked for the time being and possibly try some longer bullets, like 52gr amax at some stage in the future, and try a bit closer to the lands.
