Would you buy a gun with this description?

Hi all
i am looking to source a persian mauser 7.92 calibre, found one but the buyer has given the following description
"Some wear to the rifling at the chamber end of the barrel, othrwise rifling and barrel in very good condition and the rifle shoots well"
Due to the gun being dated 1938 would this be expected for the chamber wear or should i leave well alone
all replies greatly appreciated to this novice!!
i suppose any rifle from say WW1 era would have a similar description?,

Are you looking for a rifle to shoot or as a collectable Douglas? Older service rifles by definition may well have had a good few rounds down them and if you are to use it as a shooter I would say try it first to make sure it suits your needs.
As an example I have a P14 from around 1917, I would describe it as rather scruffy but it has a very nice chamber and bore which more than makes up for the looks :)

thanks for the info, looking for a good shooter,
unfortunately not much chance of trying it as im in edinburgh and he's in kent.
normally i would have rushed in, but now taking my time.
woodwork looks great, and bluing is great as well.
so will have to decide whether to wait until another comes along

I did know of a Persian Mauser sniper for sale that is a stunning shooter if you are interested I can see if it is still available. Again it is down my way but I have shot it and it worked for me.

Funnily enough, I saw a Persian Mauser yesterday. It was so good, it was difficult to tell if it had been fired or not. I mean immaculate. An RFD/collector mate of mine came across it. It included an immaculate, matching numbered bayonet and leather sling. He gave just under 700 for it. So really good ones are out there.......
