I need to strip some varnish off an old stock and was going to use the trusty Nitromors however I have long since run out so can anyone tell me what is the go to stripper for varnish and lacquer these days?

Please don't say a dishwasher because the new place does not have one yet

Cillit Bang strips bluing.

Acetone maybe?

The current Nitromors isn't a patch on the older brand, it must have been weakened to make it safer to use.
I have had great results with the "No nonsense" paint stripper from Screwfix. It's also cheap and readily available.

Steam:-lifts the dents as it strips.

Surgical spirit and a Stanley knife blade.

I used green nitromors from B&B to remove the finish from my CZ452 stock. In hindsight the yellow nitromors might have been better for the checkering etc but not the end of the world. It worked pretty well but you still have to use a bit of the old elbow grease to remove the rest. I found I had to use a razer blade to remove the last parts.

Nitromors is a paint stripper you can buy varnish remover from a wood workers supply store

Diall varnish and paint stripper from B&Q. I've used most brands before, and this stuff is as good as it gets - and it's a sensible price, too.
