Changing top lever "handedness" on an o/u

As the title suggests, is it possible to change the handedness of a shotgun's release lever? I am lefthanded and so have to push the lever away with my thumb which is slightly awkward but also, after a 100 bird clay shoot, results in an extremely sore thumb. Obvious answer would be to wear gloves or MTFU but I wondered if it might be a simple matter to change the direction of the lever.
Thanks for any advice.

Have you considered shooting the gun upside down?
