Can anyone recommend a good place to look for heavy .308 bullets (or even boolits) ? We're continuing our quest for a good subsonic rifle round to complement our .45 ACP deLisle carbine. Ideally it will be abullet that can be used for both sub and supersonic loadings. The barrel twist is 1 in 8 inches.

RCBS do a mould for a 200gn lead bullet and Shellhouse bullets sell the projectiles.
Sierra also do a 220gn Matchking that's been very good in .300 Blackout, I believe.

Lapua B416 would be my choice and is the only bullet I use for .308 Subs, I always make sure I have some handy.

I use a 240 grain matching with N320 powder. Mine is also a 1 in 8 twist. I've just got some B416s and loaded the first 10 today. I'll give them a go on Sunday. The 240s shoot fine at 100 yards but haven't had a chance at any greater distance yet. The barrel is only 12.5 inches though. If you want a few 240s to try out, PM me and ill pop some in the post.

I use a 220gn Hornady Hydrashok (?) SP bullet in the Whisper, very slow and knocks over foxes like they'd been hit with a brick.
The round nosed shape doesn't feed too well from a magazine but as they are only for foxes I'm not too worried about that.

Our barrel is 16", and we'd be looking to use them at 300 mards as the maximum range, generally far less than that

We've got some of Dodgyrog's 247 gn boolits on order. Any suggestions as to what powder we might try loading ? COAL ? We're thinking a tiny pinch of a fast burning powder like Ramshot ZIP or Viht N310
