A bit of a longshot...

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

There used to be an ex Police officer who collected firearms until he passed away maybe 5-6 years ago. His collection was extensive and well known, does anyone remember his name? I ask because I have a P14 that came via him and it is hacking me off that I cannot remember

A couple of names that spring to mind:
Colin Greenwood - Ex Superintendent, West Yorks - Editor Guns review and author of several excellent books on gun control. (I believe he is still with us so probably not your man)

Geoffrey Bothroyd - Firearms collector, author died 2001 - Not sure he was ever a policeman, so again probably not your man. (advised on the Bond films)

You are not thinking of Chris Barber are you he was a Firearms officer with Durham Police until he passed away. He had quite a collection of Enfield stuff.

Chris's wife is a honoury member of our Club. Two of the Guys in our Club are registered fire arms dealers they took most of his collection. It was slowly sold off all the proceeds went to his wife they took no commission on any of the sales. He was a fantastic bloke I attended his funeral in Durham Cathederal along with the rest of my shooting chums.
