Big up to Derbyshire Police and more specifically FAO Steve Rumley, initial grant took only three weeks once I'd got the form to the correct Police force (my fault!!) and I've just had a variation approved for more ammunition and an additional .22 rifle which they turned round in only 20 days.

That's brilliant.

Credit where it's due, I was impressed at the Met for turning around my shotgun application in on 6 weeks, including the Christmas Period.

I was told 12 weeks by Derbyshire at the end of December. Good work for clearing it!

I've been told to expect a long wait for Lancashire. :/

I am under the Met too. Wife received call when I was out shooting, asking if he could come on a Sunday. Not convenient for me and after some discussion we found a small slot both could make. He was insistent that it had to be done before a certain date - the reason being that he was off on 3 weeks holiday and wanted it sorted before that as it would not be fair on me to be delayed. A really good attitude and approach from the FEO. Received certificates a coupl eof days later.

Mine was away three and a half months for some simple 1-4-1s. Got my FAC back and it's still wrong. They did me a favour getting it back so soon as no variations are being done at the minute, just renewals and the massive upsurge in s7 permits....

My renewal is up in December, I'll wait till then tonhavecthe variations corrected. It would no doubt take that long anyway.

Do you know why they are not processing variations by the force you are under, Sim? Just admin cycles, or some other reason?

Lincolnshire have just issued me a new SGC after a tad over 4 months wait however they did have to give me a temporary at the last moment. They said they could not process the renewal in time as I had not included signed photographs which I found odd as it took so long to discover this (Yes I had included them however things do go astray from time to time...)

Lincolnshire 1 for 1's were taking a solid 3 months with some prompting, apparently they are now up to 5 months and counting.

That really is awful, I can only see it getting worse unfortunately. More budget cuts will come, and areas seen as "non-essential" to frontline policing will suffer the most. I imagine that the Firearms Enquiry Teams will fall under this.
