I had that problem once, it's to do with width between the rail sections, picatinny is wider than weaver (once tried to mount a vortex razor to my buckmark and couldn't. I had to get the weaver mount sent from the US to do so).

Dimensions and tolerances. The Picatinny rail is mil spec with precise slot centres and a thicker rail lug. The Weaver dates back several decades. The slots can have varying distances between them. Generally speaking this is not an issue when mounting individual rings on a Weaver rail, but any type of military type accessory that attaches to several slots at the same time may encounter difficulties on thecWeaver rail.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Do you have to use different rings for the different rails.

If using rings or attachments that use only one locking slot, Weaver will fit on Picatinny rails, but Picatinny stuff will not always fit on Weaver rails.

You asked for the difference, that's the only difference.
