Good luck, just make sure you don't let it run out with guns in the house (I'm sure you know that) :-)

A week prior to your FAC expiring...contact them and ask if you will get it on time as your current one expires on the 2nd.

If the answer is "no" then ask for a temporary permit. They are by law required to issue you one as long as you got your renewal in on time.

Do not allow them to make you lodge your guns with an RFD.

They aren't required by law to issue a Section 7 permit but most will.

The link you just sent me clearly states
should be issued by default

"Should be" - doesn't mean "must be" :-)

The problem is that Section 7 permits have to be signed by the Chief Constable - some forces are reluctant to do this as it highlights to him how poorly their department is performing.

Getting a bit worried, since I'm going away 13 days before my certificate expires and with a month left to go until that happens, I emailed WM/Staffs about it. They came back to me saying:
We currently have a back log at the moment, which means you are not likely to receive your certificate 5 - 6 weeks after your certificate has expired.

A temporary permit will be processed for you, to cover the possession of your weapons whilst we are processing them. Expect this in the post shortly.
:(

Isn't applying for a renewal just a simple formality? i.e. you've probably already got a relationship with your FEO and unless you're asking for additional slots, it's just a foregone conclusion... isn't it?

"Your FEO"....not up here. Different face every time, FEO wise; when it WAS an FEO...
NOW = not FEO assigned task - local beat "bobby" assignment = ho hum!!
