Raising the cheekpiece on AKM?

I know this will offend the purists (snayperskaya!!), but I've mounted a scope on my Cugir AKM, however the "chin-weld" position when using it isn't particularly good.
I'm therefore looking for a way to install something that my face can actually touch while I'm squinting down the scope.
I have seen the "buffer tubes" that replace the original stock, and then fit any AR type butt stock with adjustable cheek pieces.
Is this the only realistic way of achieving cheek weld with a scoped AKM..?? and are there any recommended, or not, makes to look for??
Any suggestions (apart from "remove the scope!!"

) gratefully accepted...
Daryll.

Stick one 6" military wound dressing pack on your stock-with gafel tape....or screw some old lee enfield sniper version cheek riser...or use one from SVD Dragunov rifle but some woodwork must be removed/drilled off-this is what I fitted on my underfolder,easy...

Hi Daryll
I have one of these fitted to my M14 perfect for use with a scope & no damage to the wood.

My first thoughts are along the same lines as polemass by using a taped up field dressing or other type of padded material taped in position, but I understand some can be a bit reluctant about such things.
Bnz41 has offered up another good solution at more cost, but looks nicer and is just as effective.
I wouldn't suggest cutting stuff up and ruining the existing aesthetics as it could affect the resale value, and you might decide the changes aren't to your liking and have to then replace the furniture.

I used to make a leather & closed cell foam cheekraiser as part of the company product range when I wwas in the Jarrow factory.
Sure I've got the template around somewhere.
It was suede, with a Velcro fastener.
Let me know if that may be of use.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...
I have considered taping something to the stock, but not keen on the idea, likewise actually modifying the existing stock, for the reasons RDC gives.
The lace on pad is an option.
I was thinking of something like this:

and then this:

Ah the Tactical look, they have a UK stockest but cant see AK items listed (buffer tube) only AR/shot gun stuff, they do have the item I posted about and cheaper.
Will you not have to change the grip and handguards to match
How's the L1

Hell Darly, try Zahal.org, they have a good delivery system and I've generally got stuff in 10 days from them (they say up to 14 days). They stock Fab defense products and charge in US dollars, often have free shipping and are great for prices due to this. Also try the buffer tube that reduces recoil, will keep you more on target

Stock there as well. add the cheek riser, remember.
Also Zahal have the AK forend that gives you a scope rail
http://www.zahal.org/products/ak-auminu ... ent=153455 is part of the forend so never comes off. They are great products, my VZ58 mars is loaded with their stuff.

The SLR is good thanks BNZ.....
Yes, I do like the light wood on the AKM, but the "tactical look" will give me the raised cheek piece and longer LOP... but I could always go for the tan "Desert" colour to keep the colour scheme.. :)
And yes, probably the full set...
Thanks Sixshot, yes, I've seem them, i think on Amazon, and probably where I'd go if i go the "tactical" route.

Ok, but don't discount Zahal, they do take paypal payments and sometimes they do packages and deals, see what deals they have as sometimes they sell stuff as job lots for less than buying separate.

One example of a combo, recoil reducing stock with folding hinge, pistol grip and polymer fore end $239, £165.75 at current rate. If you buy, make sure it's set to your AKM as a stamped receiver (there is an option for saiga and milled as well).
