It's just a name; applied incorrectly or not, we shouldn't pander to the morons.

If I'm responsible and safe to be trusted with a firearm I'm safe to be trusted with any firearm regardless of name, method of operation or calibre......

Complete agreement here....BUT....furious agreement amongst ourselves is of limited use....the real question is how we educate the politicians and antis who can only speak 'ban talk'.

Educate the politicians? When they make decisions based on emotions and feelings where is the need for "facts?"

Aye, anything that's black - or brown - or tan - or feckin' pink - is an assault rifle these days. If it goes BANG, it's an assault rifle. Unfortunately, the anti's have done a good job on this one .... we can only sit back and hope that they don't manage to ban anything that looks as though it might be fun. **** ****

The term `Assault Rifle` was coined by Adolf Hitler when he inspected the STGW 44 for the first time.

Of course we should.

My rifles can be described as ( by both shooters and the clueless )

1 - Straight-pull rifles.
2 - Sporting rifles.
3 - Full-bore rifles.
4 - Rimfire rifles.
5 - Assault rifles.
6 - Replica assault rifles.
7 - Resembling military rifles.

Now, you may say, "who cares what they call them" or whatever but...............

If there was a referendum in the morning - would you prefer it was "Shall we ban sporting rifles" or "Shall we ban assault rifles / military looking rifles / etc"

The result would be surely very different depending on what descriptive term was used ( or in COMMON usage in the media )
