SGC 9mm lever release... what are they like now?

I am interested in the Southern Gun Company Lever Release 9mm rifles.
I would like to ask what the current situation is with them? I have watched a number of u-tube videos and they look really nice... but I have also been reading posts on this forum from a few years back were there was a problem with them acting like Sect. 5 and that there have been catastrophic failures. Have the previous issues now been sorted? Would people here recommend one of these rifles or are there better alternatives like the VZ58 MARS ?
Thanks.

The Sect. 5 fiasco is old news now, the failures on a few of the Glock models is a bit of a worry but would not stop me buying one, currently own a (once Sect. 5) UZI version.
The MARS seem to have had a few issues too, one broke on me a month ago and had to leave the country for repair with several others, just teething problems I'm sure.
I reckon it's down to your preference, AR or VZ, they both do the same job.

I have had mine since June this year (Glock Version ), it is just brilliant, such fun to shoot and so far, 1 minor issue with sear timing, sent back FOC and fixed and returned in under a week. shoots out at 75yds with surprising accuracy for 9mm and copes well with all manor of home loads that I have been experimenting with.
Hats off to SGC they seem to be a world away from what I was reading when I first started to look at one of these.
I am so impressed with the 9mm that I own, I have just dropped the funds for the 5.56 / .223 version, which should be with me this week all being well, failing that certainly by the new year.

Thanks for the feedback. I suspected that it might be worth asking for the current situation given how old the posts that I had read are.

I have an uzi mag version, the one that was discussed at length in a few threads on here by dangermouse. it came to me with him saying it had issues with feeding, these disappeared as soon as I went over to using plastic colt 9mm smg mags. now works flawlessly until it gets too mucky and gums up. clean and off you go again

Bought one a few weeks ago (and one of the .223 versions).
1 week from order to delivery. Very helpful chap on the phone.
Both are flawless. Couple of hundred rounds through - no jams or FTF. Accuracy is good.

I have an Uzi magazine model. Mine is ammunition sensitive, it really liked 115gn Wolf but doesn't like 124gn Fiocchi or that UK milsurp that ITL were selling a while back (Hirtenberger?). I dont know the weight of that but i suspect that its also a heavy bullet. It shoots fine but it will generally stovepipe once in a magazine with these heavier projectiles. I've now got some Magtec to see how that runs.

Mine used to love 124gr Geco. It seemed to prefer light to medium wieght bullets and certainly didn't like the 147gr PPU stuff.
IF the 9mm MARS was out and
IF i was brave enough to buy one at the moment i'd go for the MARS everytime. I will be getting one once they come out, and once this EU nonsense has died down.

The EU Commission issue aside (seems to be going in some sort of positive direction with countries like Germany coming out against, plus Vicky Ford and Daniel Dalton with the committee's they are on talking in questioning tone's about it and Vicky herself saying legal gun owner's should be left alone and the focus be on illegal stuff. Anyway that aside about the MARS, the last development I can think of recently was a 1 in 9 twist as an option for the 5.56/223 (better for the cheap and milsurp ammo which is 55 and 62 grain). There is a thread on the CCA facebook page where Scott discussed and answered questions about the 22lr VZ61 (16 inch barrel and fixed stock to make 12/24 rule, I think it's too short with the stock able to fold) and off tangent someone asked Scott about a straight pull MP5. Scott replies one had never happened due to the ability to turn a blocked roller delayed blowback back to semi, too easy. So then Scott makes a comment about roller delayed being a good host for the MARS system (read the whole thing, Scott seemed to say at least that 9mm AR's have two small a bolt to work, didn't say anything about 5.56, 308, etc though). Anyway part through the thread Scott ask's if anyone would be interested in a VZ61 MARS in 32/380 acp, leading me to wonder if he's quietly found a 9mm MARS unworkable and the something already in blowback being a better host. As I said, read the whole thing on the facebook page and make your own mind up on what Scott is getting at, but it sounded like a MARS VZ61 for pistol caliber is more likely.
