Another EU ban that directly threatens shooting!

#1 Post by dromia »

As I have mentioned on other threads the proposed firearms restriction post the Paris murders should make us take or eyes off the other attacks on shooting.

The lead ban will have huge implications for all shooters and is imminent.

Yes another petition, rather clumsily worded, but it gets the essence.

Wonder where our "national" organisations are on this threat.

It is also a threat to shotgun shooting, and rifle shooting not just small bore.

Really, I though shotgun could use steel pellets.

Anyway looks like they are on the case.

So that makes it OK to ban something for which there is no factual basis for the ban.

Also certain shotguns can shoot steel if designed and proofed for steel shot, also steel is not as effective as lead.

I wouldn't be putting steel shot down any of my damascus barrels shotguns.

As always it is the little knowledge that does the damage.

The BASC stance is boils down to "No evidence, No change."

BASC statement on European moves to restrict metallic lead - http://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases/ ... llic-lead/

As of May this year there has been no shooting representative on the Lead Ammunition Group. IIRC the implication was that John Swift (LAG Chairman and ex BASC head) went rogue and sanctioned an anti lead stance from LAG.

Oh my! And you're "pro shooting"....

As I've said many times. I retire in 12 1/2 years time, I do not see me whiling away my pension shooting and this is exactly why....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

I don't shoot wildlife so and as far as I know lead is poisonous. That said I would not want to stop anyone shooting but think of the environment.
