Bxls guns grab letter

#1 Post by froggy »

European Commission officials are trying to instrumentalize Friday events that struck France and make a dubious and insulting amalgam, between legal ownership of semi-automatic rifles by law-abiding citizens and the illegal possession of automatic weapons by barbaric terrorists. Thus, you will be presented shortly a proposal for revision of Directive 2008 / 51 / EC on firearms contained in the MEMO - 15 - 6111, as part of the security agenda set 28 April 2015.

In this proposal, it appears in the paragraph 3, "what changes in the firearms directive" that the commission is proposing an obvious contradiction between the pretext, the use of illegal automatic war weapons, and the actual objective, prohibition of legally owned civilian semi-automatic rifles. This prohibition of legal guns, already heavily regulated & controlled, will obviously have absolutely no impact what so ever on the risks caused by the arrival across the Schengen area's borders of the illegal arsenal used by the terrorists.

At a time when we are asked not to make any amalgams, responsible holders of legal rifles - hunters, shooters, collectors - rely on their elected representation in the European Parliament not to become unnecessarily collateral victims of terrorism and resist the excessive influence of the unelected European Commission.

I'd welcome your views & position on the matter of this arbitrary, pointless & unjust proposal,
Best regards

Guys...

I hope all of you signed the on-line petition ? Good ... :good:
But, What do you think will make your MEP think twice about supporting & voting in favour of Brussels' proposal ? An additional name on a petition, or a letter/e-mail from one of his prospective voter asking him, personally about his intentions ?

Shooting is your hobby. You dedicate a lot of time & money for your sport. Finding your MP + MEP email address and sending him a cut/paste of this letter will only take a few minutes.

Nobody will do it for you. Even if you don't own semi-auto, be under no illusions, yesterday were pistols, today this, tomorrow you will be next.
Please don't be willing victims. So do it today... Do it now .

Thank you.

My MP and MEP are anti gun, they have told me so to my face, so any approach will change nothing in their minds.

i've sent it to my MP and MEP's, I also edited it slightly as i wasn't sure if amalgam was the right word, also added another bit about how pointless it is

Dear ??

European Commission officials are trying to utilise Friday 13th events that struck France and make a dubious and insulting link, between legal ownership of semi-automatic rifles by law-abiding citizens and the illegal possession of automatic weapons by barbaric terrorists.

At a time when we are asked not to judge the many on the acts of the few, responsible holders of legal rifles - hunters, shooters, collectors - rely on their elected representation in the European Parliament not to become unnecessarily collateral victims of terrorism and resist the excessive influence of the unelected European Commission.

We have already lost full bore semi auto rifles and standard size pistols in this Country, there is nothing to gain by making more items illegal to stop the use of something that is already illegal! These people are already ignoring the rules that are in place, the legally held firearms are not the issue.

I'd welcome your views & position on the matter of this arbitrary, pointless & unjust proposal,

Yours sincerely,

Excellent Bradaz :good:

Dromia, my MP used to be that anti-guns/anti-hunting chief liberal-neo-fascist Simon Hughes :bad:
That never stopped me the slightest.

when i googled amalgam, i only really got results about dentistry. Is amalgam a derivative of amalgamation? or are the two words totally different?

Good letter bradaz BUT the one I've sent is only 99% yours. I felt that it was necessary to re-write the reference to semi-automatic rifles 'cos the wording of the proposals impacts on more than just mini-rifles in the UK

I used it too, modified it to my words a bit (thanks to the author for the basis text) & added that whilst we are all asked not to draw conclusions & view all immigrants Muslims as potential terrorists why does Brussels do the opposite when it comes to civilian sporting & shooting enthusiasts? I also added that the UK gov proposals to ban lead as a primary ammunition material were similarly unnecessary & ineffective because in a range setting where a great many of us shoot lead is contained, managed, recovered & safely recycled & in the countryside there is no evidence of it affecting the ecosystem after over a hundred years of enthusiastic use.

like others I believe unless we inundate the filthy deceitful politicians with our views they will never consider it at any time, let alone voting.

But the Brussels move confirms my view that OUT is the best vote outcome to the proposed referendum.

Petitions & indignant posts wont make much difference, vs hassling the so called powers that be, might.

Just written to all my MEPs using writetothem.com

There is a note there saying they check for cut and paste letters and discard them if they're detected at the MEPs end, so if you want it read you'll need to write something original!
