Pistol smith recommendations, Midlands.
So I've got a Taurus 44 LBR that I'd like some work done on. It needs proper reassembly, perhaps some trigger work, perhaps a re crown.
can anyone recommend a good gunsmith with experience on these guns in the midlands area? Or a bit further afield if required!

Thank Fred! Any others before I call the single British gunsmith above London that people can recommend?

I was looking at this thread. The re-crown is not a problem however I have no direct experience of the Taurus 44 so that particular trigger is an unknown entity to me.

It requires the cylinder bushing removing and fettling, plus a general stone and polish of moving parts as well, is this something you'd be able to do?

Back in the "pistol days" that was something that most owners were able to do. Lost count of the amount of S&W, Colt and Taurus revolvers that I used to tune for gun club members.safetyfirst wrote:It requires the cylinder bushing removing and fettling, plus a general stone and polish of moving parts as well, is this something you'd be able to do?
There is always Norman Clarke in Rugby, probably one of the best gunsmiths (and I mean proper gunsmiths not a self taught machinist) in the country.

Re: Pistol smith recommendations, Midlands.
It got deformed by some rather poor amateur gunsmithing.
There was paper towel stuck underneath it where the four flanges are inside the cylinder. In an attempt to knock the thing out for cleaning, the flanges got splayed outwards, so the cylinder would not fit. They've been bent back but now of course the ejector rod doesn't travel smoothly so I think it needs removing and replacing.
I've managed to locate a new one from numrich which I"m having shipped to me...
I've been recommend to Norman Clark too....
