Hi
Does anyone know of a supplier of 243 FMJ ammo?
I understand that some ranges do not allow expanding ammo. As my only centrefire is a 243 I think I might struggle for my club MOD range visits.
I used 100gr soft point factory ammo at Bisley the other week on century where I believe it is allowed in "practice shooting".
Thanks Eddie.

Re: 243 FMJ ammo
I've just cast some LOVELY cast .243 boolits ready for my range outing next week. Lower powder charge (faster powder of course). to achieve around 2000fps
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.

Re: 243 FMJ ammo
Sako produced a 90gn FMJ many years ago which was available here for a while. Eventually, large quantities in out of date brand cartons were obtained by a large north of England gunshop which sold them very cheaply. This suggests that the commercial market here for FMJs in this cartridge is small to nil such that the importer had been forced to 'remainder' substantial stocks at a heavy loss. It is after all a 99% deerstalking cartridge in the British Isles.
Handloading the 243 is a simple job, although there are very few match bullets available that are stabilised by the standard SAAMI 1 turn in 10" rifling pitch. It's notable that the new Savage 12 Long Range Precision and Ruger's Precision Rifle are built with fast-twist barrels for their 243 chambered versions. The 90gn Sierra FMJ is OK in handloads for standard rifles if it can still be found anywhere.
