As the title suggests I'm after good quality accurate .308 ammo.
I'm based in Chester and want to be able to get a good supply of it
Kind regards
Rob

Bullet weight? Barrel twist? Amount you are willing to spend?

Edgar Bros are trade only and import quite a few makes of 308 ammunition. They are in Macclesfield which is not too far away from you and your local dealer could obtain it.
Of course, to get accurate factory ammo is tricky - it might be fairly accurate in my rifle but mediocre in yours - only testing various makes will tell - which is why most serious shooters reload.

Not neccessarily so.
GGG 155 grain Imperial ammunition (loaded with Sierra 155/2155 bullets)will easily hold the NRA V bull to 1000yds. In fact it has been proven to hold the F Class bull at a 1000yds ( shot using target rifles supported with nothing more than a sling and jacket and using target sights, NO optics).
Wether it is available up north I have no idea but plenty of shooters from the North West make regular trips to Bisley where it is readily available at £79 per hundred. Perhaps one of the Bisley regulars from the Northwest could pick some up for you.

It really depends what rifle you're shooting it with. The best .308 ammo I've come across is Hornady TAP which you can source from RifleCraft. Your RFD may accept an RFD to RFD transfer, mine has. GGG was not accurate in my rifle, so you need to experiment.

Well worth finding a local supplier of HPS ammo.

To be honest if you are having trouble sourcing factory ammo, think about re-loading.
Yes, there are some very good factory loads out there as Steve has stated, but this is sod all use to you if you rifle hates it or you cannot get it easily or at all.
My advice would be to tap up a mate who reloads and develop soem loads that way, or start out yourself.
I currently have 3 suitable loads for my AR with 2 different bullets, I am also looking at trying out RS52 to load for all 3 of my rifles (because I can get it and its easy going) but I will still have accurate data should I need to revert if a supply dries up. And they do, regularly.

I've yet to find a 308 that doesn't shoot hornady TAP ammo well , get your local dealer to order you a bucket load from edgars?
