Advice on selling Bayonets

#1 Post by sconie »

Hi all, my Ex Para mate has three German Bayonets his granddad brought back from the war, he was keeping them for his son, but well you know....kids these days, LOL. anyway he has asked me to find out where he could sell them particularly with out daft blade laws in Scotland. the first ones a German dress Bayonet, the second an engineers (Butchers blade) with serrated edge and I think the last ones a K98 bayonet.

Photos will be up shortly, I'm no expert so would appreciate any advice for him.

Cheers

As far as I'm aware, it has to be face to face or you have to have proof of age (photocopy/scan of ID) to sell. Not really sure on the differences between Scot and English law on this.

As it's most likely to be a collector that would be interested I would imagine that he will have to advertise online as I don't know of anywhere local that would be interested in war memorabilia.

It's a great place to sell bayonets, over 1100 members on there.

I'd probably be interested in the G98 Pioneer one if he had a price for it?

Cheers guys. I'll have a look, don't know how much he's looking for, probably just the market value so if I can get an idea of the current prices I'll let him know

My eldest son collects bayonets, most militaria websites will post them to you, it may have to be signed for by courier, I believe he is after top one, looks like a WW1 german sawback.

Apologies for hijacking the thread but is this group still going? I tried to join but now it says page does not exist.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.
