FTR'ish bipod

Evening peeps,

I'm in the process of "fettling" a Howa 1500 ( 308). Progress so far:
Rifle Basix trigger
Blueprinted action
28" shilled barrel
IOR scope
GRS stock

I'm now at the point where I need a bipod. Does the team think"............
Any recommendations ?
I'm looking at at either a Dolphin Trakker or maybe a Mystic at the moment .

Any advice gratefully received.

One thing to consider is the all up weight, FTR max is 8.25Kg so if I was you I'd weigh the rest of the set up first to give you an idea of what you have to play with.

If you go for the Dolphin go with the bigger one as it gives a bigger footprint, another option is if Ovenpaa of this parish, aka David at the Shooting Shed is making anymore of his as they're excellent.

Chuck the scope and get a Sightron.

Then you can spend the extra weight on a 30" barrel

They are one hell of a Bipod Tim, and that is not simply me bigging up Dave B. I never tried anything as stable.

Mind you, they do make your rifle look like a horny pond skater clapclap

I've also been down this route. My Howa 1500 is in a Joe West stock, Basix trigger, Bartlin 30" barrel, NF scope. To keep it under 8.25kg I had to get ride of the Third eye Bipod and go for a Seb co axle one as it was much lighter but after nearly a year and not getting on with it I now have a Mystic precision bipod from Fox firearms. Easy to adjust and fit to the rifle. I have made longer legs for it though.

Glad to hear that Ovenpaa has his "Stottie..." In stock.
I maybe a heretic , but the weight isn't a concern as I'll only be plinking albeit out to 600 mards ( eventually :-) Don't do competition except county postal stuff . I'm told plinking should be fun !
Knowing Dave and having seen examples of his stuff that's the way I'll go ( Dave, I'll order through the site if that's best ?, can you do swivel attachments ?

I now have a Mystic precision bipod from Fox firearms

Can I be nosey and ask how much he charges for them, I've rang a few times and not got through and no reply to emails.

I also emailed EGW in the US who now manufacture them to see if they would sell one with only the longer leg set as I wouldn't need the shorter "normal" set but again never got a reply.
