Full bore shooting in Northumberland

Hi folks,
There's an outside (I'm hoping inside) chance we may relocate from Surrey to the finest county of all, Northumberland.
If this happens, where do I go to shoot my rifles?
Cheers

MoD ranges, Otterburn complex, Ponteland.
You should also look north and see what the shooters over the border are doing.

If you're looking at full-bore target rather than stalking there's not a lot of choice, Ponteland is the most used and odd dates at Otterburn, both of these are MOD ranges and are booked through whichever full-bore club you join.
If you want to shoot full-bore indoors the nearest tunnel ranges are about 100 miles away in Scotland and West Yorkshire.
For indoor 25m rimfire, cowboy or reduced load full-bore there are several clubs throughout the North East, being biased I'd recommend St Giles Yarners in Durham, a good mix of miserable old gits and those with a more cheerfull outlook on life :)
We also have Dromia and DodgyRog as members so make of that what you will :)

Depends on where abouts in Northumberland you are moving too, some of the more Durham centric club use outdoor ranges at Catterick (north Yorkshire) which are just as open, windy and cold as Ponteland but do give some variety if nothing else
For indoor clubs there is quite a few 25m indoor clubs to choose from and Bishop Aukland (south of Durham) has a 50m indoor range for rimfire and pistol calibre gallery rifle/black powder (BP substitute only I believe indoor but I could be wrong, been a while since I read that rule).
Either way you won't go far wrong :)

The Fifty cal club uses Warcop fairly frequently (check their website calendar for exact dates). The site is along the A66 and the shoots normally take place on a Saturday. You don't need a 50 cal to join in the fun.

Not to worry about finding a place to shoot, it is so cold up there that rifles freeze and polar bears are walking around outside.

Keeps the heat mirage from a hot barrel down nicely though

Just don't touch any smooth metal part of the gun or someone may have to get 'creative' to find some warm liquid on the range to unstick you
