Got my borescope on Saturday - pushed it quickly through my RPA and Rem 700 - See the results.

Will do a proper before and after C2R review shortly to see how well it cleans, but a quick couple of videos to see what you can see with the budget endoscope from ebay.

Very interesting.

I believe that the "red bits" are not actually red.
If they are the bits you believe to be rust.

The camera with the led light makes all the colours appear different.
So it is possible the rust is just crud/dust etc...

The only way to give a better image is to change the led lights for a different "white" or provide some other lighting.
Or.. with software change the white balance etc.. Or even just switch to black/white image.

I've tried two different endoscopy things, 5.5mm and 9mm. Both give slightly different results.

As they are constructed to be "waterproof", I think that the glass cover is causing a problem by reflecting some of the led's light back to the camera.

If I can manage to remove the clear cover without breaking the camera, I will see what results.
I may even replace the leds with a better type.

I think the orange streaks on your bore are copper fouling, not rust.

Entirely plausible Gaz. Someone on UKV said exactly the same...

I'll be doing some further cleaning with C2R and see how clean I can get the bore now I can see what's going on in there.. :)

I bought a similar borescope from the 'bay and I found the same issues with the cam.... shows the bore, but not in that much detail. Definitely a case of getting what you pay for..

Although it does work, which is more than be said for a laser boresighter I bought. Although it was supposedly for .308, it wasn't a particularly good fit in the chamber, and the laser beam didn't make it out of the barrel.!

I put the sighter in a V-block and rolled it... the beam drew a 1 inch circle on a wall 18 inches away..!!
