I've been waiting to be able to put this together, and I've just finished - my real world review of C2R.

I took my "clean" Remington 700 in .223 that I'd been using Forrest Bore Foam with for the last few years and cleaned it with C2R following the instructions, and well the results speak for themselves.

Bloody hell, that Forrest foam must've just been tickling the barrel! I use C2R but i've never had results like that before!

Good write up. I recently switched to C2R myself and have been impressed with the results. :)

I'll do another review when I get chance to clean my RPA which has a 30" stainless barrel - I wonder if I'll get the same results or more copper coming out of that bore, with it being stainless, longer and shot more - It's also been cleaned with Forrest Bore Foam.

I do like how C2R doesn't go all sticky like forrest does. the foam becomes quite a nightmare and hard to rod through if left too long :(

It does smell bad though.

Smells a little of ammonia. The instructions state categorically it's not ammonia though...

Maybe it's made of cat p***...?

Either way, it works!

Did you use the water wetted patch stage or dry patches right through the process?

It went like this:

C2R Patch
C2R filled and pulled back through the bore
wait 30 mins
Dry patch x 2
Wet Patch x 8-10

Then

C2R patch
C2R filled and pulled back through the bore
60 min wait
Dry Patch x 2
Wet Patch x 15

Should it be wet patches straight away after the wait...?

I go straight in with the wet patches after the wait and the patch wetted with C2R and pulled back through the bore is certainly not fixed in stone, if someone prefers to push only then that is absolutely fine.

Also I prefer to clean my barrels horizontally as opposed to vertically and have seen no advantage with the latter.

Don't get me wrong, All the patches are pushed through whilst the rifle is horizontal.

Merely as an observation I thought it pertinent to pull the patch back through the bore whilst it was vertical, so the pool of solvent had an equal application all the way around for the waiting time, rather than resting on the bottom grooves and not on the top... I'm sure the top of the rifling whilst horizontal will get coated by the solvent on the patch... I just wanted to make sure...

There are a few techniques I want to try when doing the Krieger one, especially with some of the first patches through, moving 10cm, back 5, forward 10cm, back 5cm etc to the end of the barrel to sort of scrub the carbon out of the barrel - finishing with a one direction (straight through) polishing pass as the patches start to clear up.

At the moment, it's all about learning for me, I don't know how to clean properley. At this point I'm just happy to have a solvent that seems to do more cleaning than the last solvent.

I still can't believe I thought my rifle was clean...!
