I've had alook online but everything seems to be for US citizens, which is probably the answer to my question.

AFAIK ITAR is for supplies FROM the USA...by US citizens and companies.
Why not ask say the DTI / HMRC here? Just a suggestion.
I am sure it can be done but will it be worth the hassle and expense for what you want.??

Thats what i was looking to find out, i don't mind a load of paperwork, just won't be worth it if it costs £££'s. Will give drop the DTI an email to see how confused they will get by the whole thing before saying they can't help

What are you trying to do/import?
Each application for an export license costs $250 and takes anything from 4 up to 12 weeks to be processed. It's a load of paperwork.
I have an export agent or two that I use who handle the paperwork for me. One takes their cut by reselling the goods to me, the other does it as a fixed % fee. Both work out about the same cost overall.

Its just so i can legally bring a load (30ish) magazines back when i (hopefully) go to Vegas next year. Probably not worth it if its $250 a go

Isn't there a caveat that dissembled magazines are "parts" and thus a dissembled 30 would be able to be brought back like a 10 rounder could? Or am I reading that wrong? If that isn't the case or the authority costs that much, it might very well not be worth it.

There are companies stateside that specialise in organising these and shipping stuff over. They buy whatever you need, do the paperwork and ship it over.
Not something for a one off purchase though I'd have thought.

Thanks Grizzly, that looks like the one, however it still seems to require the involvement of a US citizen. Would that be the shop (sorry, store) i bought the stuff from? What happens if its more than one store? Also, presumably this form has to be submitted prior to the purchase?
