Do you live with another FAC or SGC holder and both have firearms/shotguns, if so how is access dealt with by your local firearms department, is it:
A) You both have all of the firearms listed on both FACs held in one cabinet however all firearms are listed on both FAC/SGC and you both have to apply for variations when one changes something.
B) You share cabinet access and have a condition that allows you to be in possession of the other person's firearms and ammunition.
C) You have one large cabinet and run a security cable and lock through the individual sets of firearms so the other person cannot gain access.
D) You have separate cabinets and do not share pass codes or key access.
E) Another arrangement not listed.
Finally, which licensing area are you in?

Yes, both my wife and I have FAC and share a couple of cabinets, we have ownership of individual guns, and this is recorded as such on the police records, but both licences have all firearms listed. We also have a clause that says we can borrow each others guns. It gets quite complicated at times and has caused problems in the past until the firearmes officer got his head around the situation, I actually sat down with him to discuss the best way of doing things. I have different vacant slots on my licence to that of wife and when they are filled the gun in question gets added to both licences - my advice if you go down this route if meticulously check your licence when it is returned. We are with West Mercia, who have been great and very helpfull!

There's four of us in the household and all have FACs and three of us have SGCs.
Access is mainly ) and D) but with a little of E).
There are 5 gun cabinets. The wife and our two boys have one cabinet each (I had to donate one to the wife and move some of my rifles to the armoury), and I have authority to possess any firearm on the boys' FACs. This started as they were both young when they first were granted licenses (13 and 15) and now one is off with the Army it makes sense someone here has access, so it has continued. Having a condition on my FAC allowing me to possess any firearm on XYZ's FAC means that I don't have to get a variation just because they do.
We also have a large walk-in armoury but that's in the workshop and not the house, it's where my exiled rifles have to live for now.
We are in East Herts, and Beds & Herts are a very understanding force and willing to think outside the box.

Both my father and I are FAC and SGC holders, we do not share cabinets, I have 2, he has 2.
We do share firearms though and are listed on our FACs as such.
We're in Avon & Somerset

My son (Blackburnbuccaneer) and I both have FAC/SGCs and our holdings fall totally into categories A & B as all paperwork has complete duplication of firearms/shotguns held.
We're in Scotland - now Police Scotland, previously Grampian Police.

Interesting question, as my son is just starting the FAC process and we've talked about this.
We would probably go the D route.... We have my old cabinet tucked away somewhere which will be big enough for his first guns, so we'll keep his and mine separate.

Great responses so far however I am interested in even more examples please, especially option B) as used in the Beds and Herts area, which other departments have adopted this option?

B) Staffs with a wording to the effect that we can borrow each others firearms and ammunition. It's a pain when you want to buy ammunition and you realise that the firearm is on the other ticket though.

Phew!
After reading the posts on this thread, I am glad the only input my wife has to shooting, is to pack my lunch for my day at the range.
