A pal of mine recently mentioned using printer's solvent (whatever that is!) for gun cleaning... got me thinking ... does anyone have any little cheats for getting a gun clean?

cheers

Ignore Winchester's manual for the 94AE where it says "dismantling by the user for cleaning is not necessary"

Brake cleaner in an aerosol can

I know someone that used Cillit BANG.
ONCE
....cleaned it down to the bare steel, fouling, carbon, copper, bluing...shifted the lot

Dechlorinated brake cleaner, removes oil and drys with no residue. Then use a brush to scrub any carbon fouling.
My method for 10/22s.

Want to give Hornady dry lube a shot next but can't find any stockists here.

Maybe use it on an AK?

It certainly does, you can add acetone and an optional bit of lanolin and it makes a good bore cleaner.

Ideal for an AK or Mosin as it's pretty much what Russian troops used/use and when used as a lube it doesn't solidify at low temperatures.
