FAC Variation for bolt action or straight pull

I've finally got around to adding some addional slots. I've seen too many nice rifles for sale recently and just missed the opportunity.

For one of the additions I've asked for a .223/5.56 slot "bolt action". However, would this also enable me to fill the slot with a straight pull? I'd like to keep my options open.

Cheers

A straight-pull is a bolt action, just one which operates with a straight-pull rather than turn-bolt action.

When I acquired my K31, the variation was for one 7.5mm bolt-action rifle - simples!

Why did you ask for a 'bolt-action'?
The form only requires 'rifle' and the FAC (to acquire section) will only have 'rifle' on it, once you have bought it is when it becomes a straight-pull or not. Even then I don't think you need to tell the licensing department the action type, only that it is a rifle.

Type is; rifle, sound moderator, ML pistol etc. not the action type.

Good question............

Where the 202 form asks for "type" I'd interpreted this as action but as you state "rifle" would have sufficed!

Take a look on your FAC, Section 1(i):
It has a column for type (Rifle, Sound moderator, etc.) and then a separate column for action (lever, self loading, N/A, bolt action etc) [these are taken from the first few of my FAC]

Despite never being asked for the action of any of my firearms the local police have taken it upon themselves to determine what action each entry is, therefore I have one "12ga self-loading rifle" and 2 bolt actions that are actually straight-pulls as well as some other straight-pulls in their own right. Nothing to worry about though.

Section 1(ii) has to be purchased or acquired, calibre, type and qty. In the type column it says 'rifle' only, no mention of action.

I just have "Rifle" listed on mine, and also for example 7.5mm so I could buy a K31 or a MAS 36, I have an AK in 7.62x39 and my ammo allocation had just 7.62 and rightly or wrongly was refused by certain RFD's when I tried to buy ammo so I had it changed.
