just musing here.

how well would a brand name (ie not chinese rubbish) airsoft RIS rail fair on something like a SGC 9mm rifle. would it even fit on?

does anyone know if the receiver thread on the SGC's is standard m4 threading, or something special big bob made up?

What fore end do you have on it at the moment.
I think DM on here had to change the barrel nut to put on a new fore end OP will know. The thread was correct but nut design was propriety.
As for airsoft parts its a may be a case of give it a go they may suffice.

It is dm's ex rifle :) so a samson evolution i think.
With airsoft we or ptw front ends have the right threaded nut for most real m4 parts. ...
So that should work. ...

I have just had a LR9 made up with own sourced Hogue overmolded foregrip which I sent in.

Now they do come with standard mil spec threads, so my guess would be that Bob uses standard sized parts, though I have heard some stories of odd sized non standard bits here and there.

yeah, i forgot that his nut isn't a standard size, but my rifle has had that removed anyway, as DM put a samson rail on. so that should mean any airsoft parts built for WE guns or PTW guns will fit, as they are milspec sized.

so its just down to whether an angry gun front end will be man enough for a real rifle

yeah, i think this won't work, the rail would need its own barrel nut. and i doubt this - http://www.milspecsolutions.co.uk/angry ... l-nut.html - would hold up to real gun pressures.

For the sake of a couple hundred pounds, surely this is a bad idea. My concern is for the quality of the aluminium on the "bolt-up face" (see image below). Do you really want to trust low grade aluminium with 35,000 psi?

I thought you were talking about the barrel nut rather than the bolt-up face...? There's no way in hell I'd use any airsoft barrel nut, but even with the correct barrel nut I still don't think it's safe, the weakness being the bolt-up face (Daniel Defense terminology).

oh... i was... whats the bolt up face? i thought the front ends just gripped the barrel nut?
