Hello everyone, i have just purchased a remington 700 SPS Tactical 20" .223 and have had it a week and still not had time to shoot it yet due to work, i was really excited about this gun but have been reading nothing but bad things about the Hogue overmoulded stock, i just wondered if anyone has actually had any luck with keeping the standard stock or does everyone junk the stock straight away, i have sanded barrel channel so it is now totally free floating, funds are a bit limited at moment so im just hoping the gun shoots well, it came with the trigger fettled and barrel recrowned by SYSS but now im wondering if i should have kept looking for a second hand .223 PSS as they are fully ally bedded aaarggh

The beauty of the 700 is its like Lego. Decent stocks, reasonably priced can be had. There are two types of Hogue stock I believe, one that has an aluminium full length bedding block which isn't too bad. The other doesn't have and is....

It'll be fine for now...just keep an eye on the amount of flex if shooting from a bipod, etc.
There are a couple of quick fix solutions to be found on YouTube...one being a coke can bedding job...
Use it until you get lucky & find a replacement stock. Even a wood one that you can get for £50 will be an improvement (just offered one tat that price yesterday if you get stuck...happy to pass on the name of the seller)
& you've spelt yer name wrong - the pup here only has the one 'L' in Elmer
