Credit to the met police
Hi all I just want to let you guys know of the fantastic service I have had from the met police When having my licence varied on four seperate occasions I have had my licence back in a week or less with the new calibers /ammo added which I think is fantastic service. I'm not sure if I have helped speed things up myself but what I usally do is send the variation to them next day delivery with a letter giving a detailed explanation of what I want and why I also stick in photocopys of my club membership for good measure (probably doesn't do much to help but hay it doesn't hurt) and hay presto I just don't know what they are doing in the met that other forces can't replicate.

I have to agree.
My dealings with them have always been pleasant, even if we don't agree on some matters.
If a certificate has come back with mistakes on it, they have taken care of it speedily. I haven't had to wait a long time for anything.
My very first FAC was done in two weeks, including the home visit! Last two variations took less than a week...

My last renewal with them wasn't so good. They tried to deny receiving the paperwork I sent them, until I emailed them the signed for delivery proof from Royal Mail. After that they couldn't be more helpful.

Everyone seems to slag off their FEOs, often with good reason, so it's good to say something nice about them once in a while.

Re: Credit to the met police
I'm still waiting for my renewals With Staffordshire I sent my paperwork in at the start of May, my FAC/SGC ran out 2 weeks ago. The week before I sent in multiple emails requesting a section 7 permit. They sent me back a message that I didn't need one and
"Because you have made your application in time, you have fulfilled your legal obligation."
I have been with Staffordshire 10 years and normally they have been excellent. This is the first time they have let me down.
(By the way I will not be moving my 25 or so firearms/shotguns to a RFD as there are 2 other holders in the house who have mirrored certificates to mine)
