Mossberg MVP

Thinking of getting a .223 bolt gun... the MVP tickles my fancy. I know a few people on here have either handled them, or know people who have them.

So what's the accuracy like? I would likely change out the stock to an MDT chassis later on.

It's either that, or get a Remy 700 and the Magpul hunter stock when they're released... hmmmmm!!

I've only handled the wood version and the stock just didn't feel right to me (not just because it was tree guts, but the way it sat in my hands). Definitely exciting rifles though for the price. Would probably go for the light chassis version in .308 myself

My Savage Model 10 is a tack driver at 100, lovely action and trigger that adjustable

I looked into getting one in .308, again found very mixed reviews. In the end I got a Tikka T3 instead (so you can still swap stocks). Very nice rifle (if a bit short for prone shooting when you're 6' 5") :)

I'll likely get a Tikka T3 in .260 Rem for a free slot that i've had for a while... Could always get one in .223 as well I guess..

The MVP is appealing as it takes AR mags out of the box... hmmmm

I reckon its down to the model you get, but even then some models like the the 16 inch barrel jobbies look great for foxing (223) or wild boar (teamed with a long eye relief scope and it might be just the job). The Varmints look great for the paper punching side of things. I reckon any rifle can be made good and I bet you a stottie cake it can be done (remember your mini 14 rig Sim, you played a blinder).

Nice as the MVP probably is I'll stick with my BMS's: similar concept but easier to swap out barrels (the latter being bog standard AR15 ones, as are the magazines)

I've got one in .223. I love it. It's as accurate as my old SGC AR15 but less than half the price (£585) and the trigger is much better. Buy one, you won't regret it.
