Is the falling plates thing part of CSR or a thing in of itself? As the little bit of info i could weedle out on the CSR forum (before i was barred ) was that you weren't trying to shoot faster than another person/your time didn't count, it was your score. That been the case i could never understand the point of pelting it down the range if your time counted for nothing, when you could take your time and arrive at the shooting point less out of breath.

The falling plates is a stand alone competition.

As for the rundowns in CSR it's all about getting all your shots on target with in a certain time, you now have 45 seconds to run 100 yards & get into position & then take your shots in the time required for that particular detail. Up until recently you had 30 seconds & that was when you did have to run if you wanted to get in position & still have a few seconds to compose yourself before the targets appeared.

Last time I tried falling plates was about 50 years ago,Barry Buddon, used a 303 Bren, didn't make sure the barrel locking lever was fully home, arrived at the firing point with a Barrel and nothing else..Ho Hum!!

The Falling Plates is a standalone match, though it's run by the CSR folk. Dirt cheap to enter, great fun (I herded enough cats to convince two teams to enter, as well as my own. The Uni of London mob are very keen to come back next year which is a definite win ) and as one of the guys said, "good enough really is good enough for this."
