Bit of a sticky one.
Got my cert in the post Monday, missus asked me to move out weds night! (Her house)

Got somewhere to go but in another constabulary.

I was picking my my gun up on Saturday but it looks like I'll be unbolting the cabinet and moving. Any advice? It seems to be amicable at the mo but just concerned I'll fall foul of the change over?

So to hear of you situation.

Do not collect your gun, leave it stored with the dealer or somewhere else of your choosing.

The police tend to very sensitive with firearms and domestic situations so best to be ahead of the game and if things go sour with your wife and she starts making firearms related accusations then they can be proved to be false as you do not have possession of your firearms.

Also best to have the guns secured somewhere else until you get your new FAC and residence sorted.

Thanks for that, I don't think it's going to go Pete tong I have told the shop I'll pick up when all is sorted. Had an issue with a divorce 15 years ago and put my guns in at the police station just in case.

No why should they? Stuff happens, people change addresses all the time.

Marital considerations aside, you're under no obligation to notify Police in advance of a gun move. Just let them know when you have.

Certainly don't pick up the gun. Leave it in storage. No accusations then if it all gets emotional.

Let the FLO know you will be moving. Tell your receiving constabulary FLO you have moved in. Bolt the cabinet in to location and await the security inspection.

When they are happy and the domestic situation has levelled out go pick up your gun.

Crap situation and sorry for your troubles.

I find myself in a similar situation, though in my case she left. My small collection is still with my friendly local RFD and will remain so until the storm has passed, not least since she still has a legal right of entry to the property at the moment. It's all simple but sound advice from the good folk of FBUK!

There will be a marker on the address with the police - it all might be amicable now but can, (and I now know as well as any), unravel fast. I guess you still have some of your stuff in the house that you want to collect? Plod get a call from one of the neighbours that there's a domestic underway they will likely get a firearms notification and you will likely get an appropriate response. Similarly if she subsequently chooses to be vindictive and suggest you've been making threats the simple fact you have access to a firearm will really not count in your favour however unfounded. All sounds a bit much, but it's happened to others.

Good advise from all, thanks. We weren't married so that is good, I'd only been there 3 months after being together for some time. We both agree it's just not "right" have no financial obligations etc so o de my stuff is relocated (tomorrow) we will still be friends (yes very rare) so if they need to confirm no "issues" she's more than happy to talk to the FLO to confirm there will be no domestics and that there won't be. Needless to say I'll be staying on my own as it's easier

Yeh I said that and got married again, luckily my ready made family all enjoy going down the club and shooting so never say never....

If only my domestic bliss were so easily resolved. Just got back from a mediation session with herself in which she looks like she will be trying to fleece me for all I'm worth - even tried to pull my rifle collection into the picture though individually they don't meet the threshold for disclosure - and, I think, is using our children as a lever.

Fortunately I have an experienced solicitor working on my behalf, though I'm still not looking too far into the future right now.
