After a bit of advice on the minefield of different makes of ammunition etc.

Am due to pick up my new rifle in the next week or so and was wondering what people would advise to be decent ammunition in order to zero the rifle and general target work. Rifle is a T3 Tactical in .308win and a 20" barrel. Looking at ammunition where I would be able to re-use the brass for reloading in the near future.

Any first hand experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if you ever get down to Bisley, but RUAG and HPS target ammo is very good and the cases are good for reloading...though quite expensive at up to 99p a round.

The new GGG ammo is also very good and excellent value (in comparison) at 79p a round...however the primers are crimped and I believe the primer pockets may need reaming before reloading (not fully sure about this, and was going to ask about it on here myself).

You should be able to get PPU most places; it's cheaper than the others, but it's also less accurate...though still good enough for basic zeroing and you'd have the cases (which are OK) for reloading.

I've been reloading 308 GGG cases for a couple of years now without any problems. I think (but I'm not sure) you can get once fired cases (which mine were) from the NRA, if not now certainly after the imperial meeting.
I use an RCBS primer pocket swaging tool to remove the crimp on the primer pocket but there are others on the market. I find a bit of case lube on the nipple before swaging stops the cases sticking. That doesn't sound good does it but you'll see what I mean if you go down this route

The 147gr S&B FMJ .308 won't break the bank and will get you started. About £55-60 per 100.

Thanks for that...I've got hundreds of RUAG cases, but will keep the GGG ones now as well.

+1 for the RUAG (RWS) GGG & HPS .308 ammo although expensive you get what you pay for these days, another note S&B ok to shoot factory new but not made to the same level as the others. I would not bother reloading it.

Friend was using some S&B yesterday at 600yds would not reach the target, but the bought RWS and his reloads were in and around the bull.

Not to you but could send to your local RFD in the same way they ship firearms between RFD's.

There's nowt wrong with S&B brass. I've been using it in my dta and my groups are .6moa over 10 x5 shot groups. My figures over the chrono are excellent were talking single digit SD and ES. Yes I've done a lot of work to the brass but then I do that to what ever make of brass I use!
