Moved house recently and just before I moved, I tried to get rid of my scrap brass via a few local scrap metal places ( Hertfordshire )
But each one refused used cartridge cases on "health and safety" grounds.
Now in Cambridgeshire - March. Anybody know a scrap dealer who will take cartridge cases ?
Not weighed it but feels like 50kg - its mostly .270 .308 .223

I have a good 35Kgs or so that is going to have to head north with me because I cannot scrap it here in Mid Bedfordshire.

I think you may struggle, scrapyards round by me in Shropshire won't take them either.A friend of mine works at a Veolia recycling plant and he told me if they get cartridge cases on the line they have to shut it all down, call in the police and search for possible live rounds......at a cost of around 10k a time!!!.

I have thought about building a backyard furnace to melt it down and make it easier to get rid of, btu something tells me they'd be even less likely to take ingots...! :(

Contact Tony ( chief range officer) at ITSC.
He collects our range scrap and recycles it.

Have you had a word with the NRA about who they use - there are scrap brass bins all around Bisley, so they must be disposing of it somehow?

I scrapped 10-15kg of 5.56mm/7.62mm (Berdan primed) about 2 years ago at EMR in Newcastle. The guy on the shop floor said they couldn't take it but i'd emailed ahead and got confirmation them would. I showed him a print out of the email and after talking to his boss they reluctantly took it. Probably one of the most hostile non-alcholic establishments i've ever been too, and i've been on gypsy camps telling people they're going to lose their homes

No problem weighing it in around here, though we do have to sort it first and confirm that there are no live rounds.

PM saddler. He's as close to a "Do as you likey" as we have on the forum. He'll probably steal a Transit to come and collect it!
