Question: Who makes a decent .223 heavy barreled off the shelf rifle that's got a box magazine and NOT American.
To be used to 4-500 yards and just normal ammo - no loading etc etc.. 5 or10 round mag is fine
Wood or synthetic.
Anyone??
Thanks.
Chuck.

BMS ARMS...CAM (though not easy to source)
TIKKA....T3
Quite a few British made straight pull options too.
Browning BAR semi auto
FN make a few nice semi autos in .223

You can get AR15s with heavy barrels.

Howa varmint would do the job if you fancied a Japanese action instead.

Tikka T3 in various heavy-barrelled incarnations with both 1:12 and 1:8 twists.
- Varmint
- Super Varmint
- Sporter
- Tactical
- CTR
The Sporter has a laminated stock, the others synthetic, all are very accurate straight out of the box.

Sako Varmint laminated stainless. IMHO one of the most beautiful rifles currently in production.

+2 on CZ 527. I have a varmint in the HS-precision kevlar stock. 1:9 twist barrel, shoots 52gr to 69gr really well (<0.5moa if I do my part), have not experimented above 69gr. Has a set trigger too if that takes your fancy, 5 round detachable magazine.

The CZ heavy barrel seems interesting.
Sorry - I should have said bolt action, straight pull isn't one of the options.
I'll look at some of the others.
Thanks all.
