Savage or Kimber?

I have a variation for a 223 and its burning a hole!
I like stainless, fluted varmint rifles although this will only be used for target shooting (S class?)
I like a couple of Savages, the FVSS and BVSS. I have found both in stock at £885 and £1250.
I also very much like the look of the Kimber Pro Varmint that appears to be in stock at Riflecraft @ £1611.
All pretty similar in barrel length and 1 in 9 twist.
I know there are many others makes around but I like the look of the above.
The FVSS is an old model as its not on Savages website. It and the BVSS appear to be the same but with different stocks.
Is the Kimber worth twice the price of the Savage FVSS?

I'd try and handle them and see which one "spoke" to me.

Mind you any gun less than 70 years old seems to see me as being in Coventry.

As to the Kimber being worth twice the price of the Savage I would have to say no.

Dont savage have a good reputation too these days, adjustable triggers and all sorts for sometimes under a grand?

The Savages are excellent rifles in my book and I would buy one in a blink if I was in the market for a rifle of that kind.

Which is why I said what I said, the Kimber isn't worth twice the price of a Savage in my experience.

Thanks for that Adam.
I think I had already convinced myself that the Kimber is probably a cracking rifle but double the price I cant justify.
The other issue is that I would have to drive 3 hours to Riflecraft to have a look at the Kimber.
You don't see many around tbh!
I think the savage may be the one for me.

The Kimbers are nice rifles but twice the money won't give you half the group size of the Savage.

I'd go Savage.

I'm a Savage fan, I have two F12's, one in 6mmbr and a 6.5x284. Both shoot exceedingly well. 5 shot groups in the .2 moa range are not unusual with the 6br.

Two of my fellow club members shoot Savage Model 12 F/TR rifles - while they look a bit agricultural, there's no doubting how well they shoot straight out of the box.
