........ just got me a mould in the post from CBE in Australia, for Paper Patch bullets for my Martini Henry IV - it looks a really nice mould, now feeling really excited to get out and start casting - just have to wait for it to stop raining!!

Aye they make a canny mould, I've got at least a dozen of theirs in my collection, none from the new company though.

I'm not a big fan of brass moulds, they do cast well but I find them heavy and with the arthritis in my hands weight is a big consideration for me.

They can also be prone to tinning if you have tin in your alloy so you need to watch the mould temperature, especially with those big bullets that need to be run hot.

What mark of Martini do you have?

What is the bore diameter on it?

The MK4s are usually larger up to 0.470", for paper patching I had Barry Darr cut mine to drop at 0.462" for my MK4.

I have never slugged the bore, so not sure, but the barrel is really good with very strong rifling, and I am currently shooting a friends reloads which use a similar sized patched bullet, which shoot great so size wise it should be fine. Hoping to get casting tomorrow as the forcast is better!

I just had a casting session for my Mk4 MH which I have just put onto fac.
I have a custom Lee 480gn which casts at about 0.468 so can lube, load and shoot.
The other is a Lyman 480gn 45-70 bullet that I have paper patched.
I haven't fired any yet!
