Tell me about the Shield Red dots that black rifle sells

#1 Post by Sixshot6 »

I'd like to know what people think of them? I know they are uk made and get good reviews. I'm interested in the mini shield to go on the vz58 scout style when the mount from Canada comes (it's coming by boat, possibly next month). The mini one with a 65 moa circle with a 1 moa dot in the middle is what I'm interested in. I see they are used as backups on SA80's by the army when its a bit too close for the Trijicons/Elcans? They must have some quality to have been sold with the Trijicon branding in the US.

I know they are made here in the UK on site at Shield and have a good reputation however that is all.

Well I suspect that being used by the army as backups for distances too close for the trijicons tells me they have some quality and given that military equipment procurement had to improve I suspect they are good. Its only for 50, 100 and maybe 200 yards I need it for anyway and being scout style means my eyes are open. The 65 MOA is what I want the most to be fair.

^ hmmm
I hope the quality has improved then, we were throwing bags of them in the bin a couple of years back.
The ones used on the ACOg were trijicon RMR. The shield sight was fitted on top of the SA80 as a cqb sight. They did not like the austere environment very much.....

thank you. I was a bit unsure of what to do. Makes me go back to my previous idea. Thanks for the real life update. I guess their talent for buying mediocre stuff hasn't abated (the MOD's talent I mean).

I have had two now, a 3moa dot and the circle dot.

Both suffer from the same problem. The auto brightness works well outdoors but on an indoor range they struggle. It sems that the sight "looks" up to see how bright an environment it is in. On a tunnel range I shoot at they simply don't work as the lights are on the sid of the range and above it's a big black hole. Kneel down to shoot and I'm below the lights and the dot's nice and brigh t. Stand up and the dot dims down to the point where I can only just make it out. I have now tried four different sights and all of them do the same thing.

Personally if your looking for a mini sight I would go with the Burris fast fire three.

I was also looking at the Vortex razor as the lifetime warranty is a plus.

Bloody hell....you mean for all this time I have been caught napping...without a backup, just in case those pesky targets fight back.... :o

What if the red dot on my Elcan went down?....I might die...of lack of airsoft street cred clapclap

Who knew....I have seen Fig11s duck occasionally (how else could I possibly miss one?) ;) But fighting back or ambushing me when my Elcan is sick..... 5mith

I'm still thinking it over chuck. I have many reasons I have an upper limit for what I want to spend. Part being that the size of the rail coming and other things that I think are best left to me and my dad to sort out (once again thanks for the ant-supplies link cheers ).
