I'm curious which moderator AI owners are running on their rifles ?

I'm also wondering if everyone has gone with a moderator to fit the AI brake or instead have a direct thread can ?

Just trying to figure out the options.

Thx

I use the AI mod on my AE Mk3. A good mod with a good level of sound reduction. Being screwed on to the brake you do notice a good fouling build up so good cleaning is essential. Overall good but does cost a bit

Thx. Is it Titanium ? Just wondering if it is as heavy as the rest of AI kit.

One of these, it was a joint venture between myself and OLC and is a reflex design in stainless and light metal and features an integral muzzle brake and heat sink. I can take 20 shots over a few minutes and unscrew the can without gloves.

Got any more info on that mod David?

Aside from my rem being .223 that looks proportioned perfectly...! would be interested in getting OLC to put something together similar...

I run the AI moderator over the 338 brake and it is incredibly quiet and it notably improved accuracy. I think they're made by Mae in NZ. My moderator doesn't look like the picture in the link BTW, perhaps this one's an older model.

It came about as a result of a conversation between myself and Colin at OLC and works incredibly well, I use the one in the picture on my 6,5x47 out to 1200 yards with pointed 123 Scenar's and sound attenuation and accuracy is superb. This was a bit of an experiment so it has a stainless front end with baffles and an aluminium outer rear over a stainless rear core with ports. Mine has two rear O rings, one as a pressure seal over the central tube and one to lock onto the barrel to prevent it coming unscrewed. Everyone told me this would upset the accuracy however it works for me, 100m zero with it removed and fitted is exactly the same and I have put 4 consecutive shots in a 5" F Class bull at 1200 yards on one occasion, the last shot falling just outside. Fair to say it was a still day however off a Versapod with a 27" barrel impressed me.

Fitment is standard AI spigot

I have the Sporting Services moderator made by MAE which fits over the older style muzzle brake on my AT308. Works well, a few guys at the club have commented on how effective it is (I don't know, I've got my cans on when I shoot).
Can't use it shooting McQueen though, after the 6th or 7th shot the heat haze ruins the sight picture, need to invest in a tea cosy.

I've loaded to 2.897 for my .260. My notes say that's 20 thou off the lands with Berger VLD's.
