Just noticed the date - WTF is the Firearm blog doing plugging a 6 year old story!

Would delete entire post but no way of doing so.

Admittedly, not dropping the mag on a misfire is a bad habit of mine. Must correct it.

These sorts of things do happen - I have investigated a couple myself, but it isn't the gun-makers fault, it's invariably operator error.

The US is litigation-mad. Had a problem? Just gotta sue somebody!

Seems there's much doubt about the story, certainly with any semi auto rifle I'm using the mag is usually out right away in event of a stoppage.

It's a sad story, but so easily preventable .... and probably not unique, either.

Sometimes, it's the things that we forget to do that have the worst consequences.

First IA, "tap, rack, bang"...

I suspect, if this story is true, and I don't believe it is, it's a culmination of factors....

To be fair, I was drilled for 22 years not to drop the mag (and 'get back in the fight' asap) so it's a hard habit to break.

I'm not sure I'd trust a solicitor with such poor spelling, grammar and the inability to stick to one way of staying things; clip, magazine?
