Shooting the Historic Lee-Enfield Service Rifles
Lecture + Techniques Workshop & ‘turning targets’ Range Practice
Venue: Bisley Camp on Saturday 21st May, 2011

Following the success of our previous NRASC Service Rifle afternoon, we are pleased to announce that Richard Seddon – many times NRA (Civilian) Service Rifle Champion with the Lee-Enfield rifle & a founder member of the Lee Enfield Rifle Association – will be running a full day ‘Masterclass’ on winning techniques for Shooting the Historic Lee-Enfield Service Rifles. The morning Lecture and Techniques Workshop will cover such aspects as the differences in ‘hold’ and ‘positioning’ between modern day target rifles and historic service rifles; understanding the relationship between yards increments on the rearsights and inches POA on the target face; estimating ‘aim off’ for windage; as well as Secrets of the techniques and strategies used by the ‘old masters’ of the 1920-30s for standing, kneeling, and prone shooting in slow-fire, rapids and snaps competitions.
This will be followed by an afternoon of practical sessions, using the turning targets on Butt Zero; where you’ll have the rare opportunity for expert coaching and your 303 ammunition supplies will be the only limit on the opportunity for perfecting your technique.

303 ammunition will be on sale through the NRA-SC. Also a limited number of Lee-Enfield rifles will be available for those who don’t own one.

Lunch will be available in the Old Sergeants’ Mess from £3 for sandwiches and £6 for a hot lunch.


Cost for the day is £20 and it is limited to 20 people although I will have a reserve list and if there is a much larger interest then we will run another day. Ammo and gun hire will be extra. Book now to reserve your place.

Nope due to other commitments however it would be good to hear how it went, I am hoping there will be another similar day at a later date

Well I have to say it was a very enjoyable day. The morning was taken up with a talk from Richard Seddon of the Lee Enfield Rifle Association, covering matters such as the service rifle stances, sight adjustment, aiming techniques, estimating aim-off and many other useful tips and tricks. Barely time for a quick sandwich then onto Butt Zero on Stickledown to put it all into practice along with some useful coaching. Fresh air, sunshine and shooting my favourite rifle to the sound of machine-gun fire in the distance - what more could you want in an afternoon? :lol:
