Never use proprietary gun oils you are paying for the label.

I use ATF, thin it with paraffin if I need anything lighter.

I have half gallon each of Ballistol and Youngs 303 as they are water miscible, so get used for BP work

Anyone? ...I'd say so, as Ballistol was German army issue in WW1

As to the specific gunex....not me, not yet at least.
The UK importers are in the approx vicinity of Dromia, so I plan to call in to see them at some point.
Will see if I can get samples for dishing out on here for testing.

Unfortunately they don't seem to sell Ballistol in usable quantities, just wee bottles of the stuff at six quid. Plenty of sprays, cloths, pencils and such nonsense which is more about packaging than the oil.

I get mine from Europe in two pint containers at a fraction of the price they are charging for the same amount in their wee bottles.

I use ballistol on my toys and it works well. As stated, it was used by the other side during WW1 and it can be applied to metal, wood and leather. Reasonable smell to it is a bonusl. Dromia is entirely correct regarding the packaging though.

ATF and paraffin, as used by the Russians.

(sits back and awaits Saddlers reply about how the Finns shot loads of Russians because the Russians used cheap lube!.......)

I've got a Gunex spray and use it on stuff that needs a residual lube (i.e. moving parts), as i saw a Youtube comparison a while back of around 30 different types of cleaners/lubes and it came out in the top 5.

The spray has little force to it though so its no good for blasting crap out of crevices, i use 750ml tins of Napier Gun Cleaner for that as its like a fire hose :good:
