After a couple of year wait, and purely by chance I've acquired a Dragunov (or Tigr with Dragunov bits....):



The scope took me a while to figure out exactly what it was, but it's an earlier POSP made by Belomo that persons unknown have sprayed over with matt black. This spray job is flaking off to show the original grey hammeriteski finish underneath. The Battery compartment takes an AA 1.5v, and for which the contacts were well and truly corroded - few minutes with a file and a fresh battery and the illuminated reticule works just fine. The reticule has a range finder but it's the commercial one - graded for an object 0.5 metres or alternately 1.5 metres:







And here's the wooden furniture which I think is brilliant:

Thus far I've only put a few rounds through it (got it Monday night) won't get out to a longer range for a week or so but I suppose that's handy for me to get my head around the scope (the reticule moves not the image), and I need to get me head round the bullet drop compensation. In fact I need to go find an english manual for it........

Nice rifle, treasure it as they are hard to come by. Passed up on one myself a few years back and it took me over 18 months to find another at nearly twice the price. Luckily Chris at C&G sourced one for me.

Very nice Comrade, looks good and always nice to see another Dragunov.The only reason Izhmash called it the Tigr was they had to so they could sell it to the civilian market as a hunting rifle. If the numbers on the scopes elevation turret are evenly marked from 1-20 it's a generic turret for any calibre....but....I have a list of the settings to allow it to be used as a BDC turret for 54r, I'll pm it to you later.The gas regulator is the blank SVDS/Tigr non adjustable type, I think they went all out with mine and fitted the Dragunov two position adjustable one despite the fact its straight pull!!!.The wood furniture looks very nice and it is a military stock as it has the small screwhead on the right side that acts as a retainer for the receiver cover takedown lever.There is a good english version of the Dragunov manual on ebay, translated from the original with original diagrams and ballistics charts etc.I have one and it was about £18 but well worth it.

The top turret on this one is 0 to 8 and the marks look to be un-evenly spaced:

Was really chuffed when I got the reticule illumination working, the diode was the oddest looking LED I've seen thus far - and the corrosion was so bad on the terminals that the voltage at the LED had dropped to 0.7 (mines a 1.5V AA battery setup - which TBH I quite like for longevity and simplicity), there's still .1v drop at the LED but without knowing the characteristics of it I can't really determine what that's down to.

I've been looking at reloading for this rifle - what's the twist rate likely to be 12.5" or 9.5" or something else? I'll check mine when I get back home tonight, it seems bullet choice is limited at .311/.312(Why do Hornady list it as .312?) to 123,170,174,190 grain for reloading, although Kranks does have 150's in but they're soft point - maybe that's good enough to get expanding ammo onto my ticket

Very nice rifle

You may find using 54r milsurp ammo will suit it instead of reloading. If you are set on reloading try Sierra Matchkings 174gr .311dia not cheap but good.

suffolk rifles had one left when I bought this one - so he may have the last one still? this was about a fortnight ago.

How do you get to own something like that? I'm bloody jealous!
