I have just found, downloaded but not yet used Shot Timer for my Android Phone. Has anybody else used any phone based shot timers?

Is this "IPSC Shot Timer"? I used it at a PSG shoot a couple of months ago. All the basic functionality was there but it was just far too sensitive to work on my phone, a Motorola Defy. The timer would be set off by it's own start beep, guns being racked, loud voices and the like.

I gave some feedback saying that I liked the functionality but that the sensitivity issue basically made it unusable. The developer claimed that this was down to an over sensitive microphone in the Motorola Defy and that it should work on other handsets. The software does have a sensitivity adjust but it didn't seem to make any difference.

It's a shame it doesn't work better as the Defy is supposed to be fairly resilient to harsh treatment so is an obvious choice in that environment. I'll probably try it again at some point just to see if things have improved at all as there have been a few updates since I used it.

I have the IPSC one bit also another which seems much more straightforward. Forget the name but it was free. There 3 free ones at present on Android marketplace.

Thanks for the tip. They weren't there when I installed mine a few months ago. I've installed "Shot Timer" and will give it a try as it looks pretty good. The similarly named one with "Pro demo" on the end looked a bit iffy so I don't think I'll bother with that.

Did you know there's a ballistic calculator thing on there too? t's called "Strelok.Ballistic calculator".

Shot Timer is the one I have and it does look ok?

I'll give Strelok a try. Shooter is supposed to be good as well but costs money :(
